A spring is producing waves of frequency 4 Hz and wavelength 0.5 m. What is its velocity? What will be its wavelength if the frequency is double? What will be its wavelength if frequency is reduced to half?


SOLUCIÓN:

The wave’s velocity is: v = \lambda \cdot \nu

v = 0,5\ m\cdot 4\ s^{-1} = \bf 2\frac{m}{s}


If velocity is constant, when frequency is doubled wavelength must be half. In the same way if frequency is halved, wavelength have to be double.
