Relation between frequency and wavelength (3140)

A spring is producing waves of frequency 4 Hz and wavelength 0.5 m. What is its velocity? What will be its wavelength if the frequency is double? What will be its wavelength if frequency is reduced to half?


The wave’s velocity is:

v = 0.5\ m\cdot 4\ s^{-1} = \fbox{\color[RGB]{192,0,0}{\bm{2\ \frac{m}{s}}}}

If velocity is constant, when frequency is doubled wavelength must be half. In the same way if frequency is halved, wavelength have to be double.
