Define, with your own words, what energy is. Explain three different types of energy.

Energy is the ability of a system to cause changes in other systems or in itself.

a) Kinetic energy. The energy possessed by an object due to its motion.

b) Potential energy. The energy sotred in an object due to its position or state.

c) Thermal energy. The energy that comes from the temperature of an object, which is the total kinetic energy of its particules.
